I always wonder how I got so lucky to meet the people I have, thanks to this business!! Samantha and Brandon are literally two of the most sincere and genuine people I know! When Samantha told me she wanted to bring her puppy, Gideon, to their engagement shoot, I instantly fell in love them them! 

It might have been a cool, February day, but you could feel the warmth from their smiles! We had the best evening together and I am so excited to be apart of their Fall wedding this year!! Congratulations Samantha and Brandon!!! <3 

Amanda + Cliff | Engaged

I am gearing up for another fun filled wedding weekend and just had to take a moment to share some of my favorite images from Amanda and Cliff's romantic engagement session!! I am pretty sure that I did not give Amanda and Cliff a single directive during this shoot; they are just so naturally in sync with each other!! 

Their wedding day is sure to be filled with beauty all around! I mean come on, Amanda is so naturally beautiful! I told her she should sign a modeling contract, but we both agreed pigging out on food was way better ;)

I am so excited to be a part of Amanda and Cliff's big day this weekend!! So in honor of their wedding day, here are just a few of my favorites (which, by the way, rained on and off, but you could never tell)!!  :)

Why you need to hire a ___ | March Madness Part 3

Hi everyone! Welcome back to my Part 3 of my March Madness blog series! I accidentally skipped last week, but I promise it was for a good reason! We closed on our first home, but I will save that blog post for a different day! ;)

This week, I am discussing the importance of hiring a DJ for your wedding! This vendor is vital to keeping the party going at your wedding! The DJ will be the one who plays those specially requested song for each event at your wedding, introduce you into your reception, and the reason your guests stay on the dance floor all night! 

I have the pleasure of featuring a very good friend of mine who leads a team of talented professionals! J.R. Murray owns Digital Illusion Rentals, a professional DJ and rental service. He serves Petersburg, WV and all surrounding areas, but is willing to travel wherever you want to take him! 

I asked J.R. why he was passionate about his services, and he said "I absolutely love music. Being a DJ is an offshoot of that musical passion.  It has grown into me wanting to help people save money on their special day by having the lowest rental prices with the nicest equipment." Brides on a budget? I think you may have found your guy!! :)

When I asked J.R. why his services were so important on a wedding day, he said "Getting a quality DJ is often overlooked until it is too late.  Maybe they cancel or maybe they don’t play the music you enjoy.  We pride ourselves on never cancelling and building the playlist around your tastes while at the same time using our musical knowledge and people watching skills to play to the crowd."

Finally, I asked J.R. what his one piece of advice for brides was, and he replied "If you know the vendor you want, BOOK THEM.  Don’t wait.  If they are any good they book up fast.  Don’t be disappointed because you said, “I can call them next week.”  Book when you know who you want."

Trust me ladies (and gents), you don't want to miss out on having the time of your life at your wedding!! Book your DJ before its too late!

Why you need to hire a ___ | March Madness Series Part 1

March is finally here, friends! And I am hoping that after this week, the Spring-like weather is here to stay! For many brides, March is an important month to finalize those important details for their Summer and Fall weddings! For many grooms, March is an important month to focus on their brackets and who is going to win the National Championship. To them, this month is otherwise known as March Madness. Well, ladies, this month is considered March Madness for you too! 

There are so many details that are important on your wedding day. There are many people that play a crucial role in the details and success of your wedding day as well. Before you read further, take the time to thank those people who have been such a huge support to you along the way! Without these people, wedding planning may be a little bit of a struggle. Fortunately for you, I am going to help guide you to a few other important people that will help perfect your day in every way!

The purpose of this weekly series of blogs is to tell you about my experiences as not only a wedding vendor, but as a recent bride myself. As a disclaimer, these blog posts are truly my opinion and the opinions of others, but I can tell you that knowing this information first hand is something that is extremely important to me, and I hope that I can help guide you in a direction that eases the stress of your wedding day!

I want to give you a brief introduction as to why I am starting this blog series with "Why you need to hire a professional makeup artist" for your wedding day. As a recent bride myself, I was completely convinced that I did not need to have anyone do my makeup for my wedding day. I was totally confident in my abilities (what was I thinking?!) and I didn't want anyone to do my makeup because I was scared they would turn me into a clown! Well, fast forward to the morning of my wedding, and as you guessed it, I was very frazzled! Although I gave myself enough time to get ready, I felt very rushed to do my makeup because I kept messing it up, I didn't want to miss seeing my bridesmaids getting ready, and I was just so anxious that I couldn't focus on it. That resulted in me being extremely unhappy with my makeup. But, the show must go on, and I survived. 

Fast forward 5 months to The Little WV Workshop held in Charleston, WV (see below post)! I met an amazing woman named Natalie Contrera. Natalie was a talented makeup artist that came along with Ashton Kelley and Alicia Wiley to join in on our fun-filled weekend in WV! My amazing friend Hannah Hicks and I were talked into dressing up and playing in the snow to model for our awesome conference attendees, so naturally, Natalie was tasked to do our makeup!  It was during a conversation with Natalie while she was applying my makeup that I regretted not hiring an artist to do my makeup for my wedding day. After telling Natalie my regrets, she said "you know what, will you please write a blog post about that, because so many brides do not realize the importance of hiring a makeup artist on their wedding day!" And in that moment, I knew then that I wanted to share my experiences with anyone who was planning a wedding, or may be in the future! So long story short, here I am, with a weekly blog series to share my thoughts on hiring these specific vendors for your big day! 

So, Part 1 of this weekly blog series is going to highlight my amazing friend, Natalie Contrera! Natalie is located in Baltimore, Maryland. Right now, she serves the Maryland, DC, VA, PA and Delaware area! Her target market is Baltimore, and really anywhere on the east coast, especially New York!! However, she is always open to travel, and in fact, Natalie says that life is too short not to see the world!! I totally agree!!

Currently, she teaches classes and co-partner's a business called Upskill Artistry and Beauty! I asked Natalie why she felt that her services were an important part of your wedding day, and this is what she said: "I feel as those my services are important because it's your special day! Do you really want to try putting false lashes on for the first time the day of your wedding? Do you really want to try a new mascara or attempt a wing liner? Leave it to the professionals! Hair and makeup are my specialties. My makeup kit includes products that look the best for camera and my hair kit only includes the best, high end, long wear products. Your pictures speak a thousand words. The things that last from the wedding are everything in the pictures. My goal is to have my clients stare back a year, ten years, thirty years and still think "that's when I felt the most beautiful!" I couldn't agree anymore, Natalie!!

Her words of advice for brides that are planning a wedding are: "Keep mom out of it. Haha! Kidding. But kind of. Not just mom. EVERYONE. Stop bringing too many cooks in the kitchen. It is YOUR wedding, any way you want to have your wedding is the PERFECT way. There is no "right" or "wrong" when it comes to how you want the wedding to be portrayed or what you want to offer." 

Natalie is truly one of the best on the east coast! I am so happy to highlight her and her services, and I hope that this was super helpful for you!
